In today’s world, the work of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) is more important than ever. UUSC partners with communities—especially in the Global South—to help them withstand and recover from climate-related disasters. The organization defends human rights around the world and here at home, with particular attention to migrants and to trans and nonbinary individuals. It also supports grassroots relief efforts and long-term recovery following both human-caused crises and natural disasters in places such as Sudan, Burma, Ukraine, and Haiti, prioritizing assistance to those who were already marginalized before disaster struck.
Most importantly, UUSC does not arrive with its own grand plans. Instead, it works respectfully and humbly in partnership with local organizations that know their communities best and are already developing the most effective solutions to the complex challenges they face.
