This week’s plate collection will support the renovation of our Transylvanian partner church’s Parish House, where the minister lives with his wife. They will soon be joined by their first child! Built in 1842 and last renovated in 2012, the Parish House will receive an electrical upgrade, new windows, and some replastered walls and floors. New kitchen cabinets and fixtures are unfortunately not included in the budget for this project. The minister has asked if we can help with the cost, which he would otherwise have to cover with his own funds. Those of us who visited our partner church last summer know how central that tiny kitchen is to the life of the congregation; it was “command central” for a feast in our honor in the Parish House yard.
Your donation today will strengthen the foundation of the relationship we have built with our Transylvanian partners! Those of us who broke bread with them last July look forward to sharing our experience with you on Sunday, May 10.
