About the event

As Sam Cooke sang: "Don't know much about history"?  Or perhaps you do!

Either way, please come to a dynamic presentation by our intern minister, Terry Dixon, on the legacy of slavery in West Needham (now Wellesley) and also the early history of the UU Society of Wellesley Hills. Terry will talk about some of the founders of the church - especially the amazing women who made it all possible! - and how the church was financed in those early days.  He will also address a "skeleton in our closet" - namely how the money that was donated by the local Unitarian philanthropist and railroad baron, H.H. Hunnewell, to build the stone church (now our chapel) was tainted by his exploitation of Native Americans.  Please come and hear these stories after church on Sunday, May 24 at 12 noon in the Chapel.
