Tenebrae is actually a worship that dates back to the 8th-9th century and its English translation is “darkness.” Historically, this service was a reminder of the suffering and death of Jesus. For us, in our context, it is the opportunity to reflect on darkness and gives us permission to lament, to cry out. But it also gives us the opportunity to hope for a better world.
