SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30AM ONLINE & IN-PERSON

Holidays and Traditions

Our partner church in Torockó, Romania sent us this personal message in 2022.

UU Wellesley Hills holds worship services every Sunday year-round. During the customary program year spanning from September through June, we meet in the Sanctuary at 10:30 am. We start that year with an Ingathering that features a Water Celebration, where people mingle waters they have collected over the summer months. We end it the program year with a Flower Ceremony, where people share the springtime flowers they have gathered with one another. We always honor the preciousness of our time together in community, and our Sunday worship is immediately followed by a Fellowship Hour in our Parish Hall.

Throughout the year, we mark a host of special occasions, including religious holidays and civic observances: Blessing of the Animals, Remembrances Day, the Jewish High Holidays, Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday, Winter Solstice, Lunar New Year, Martin Luther King Day, International Women’s Day, and World Pride Day, for instance. We readily recognize the sacred dimensions of seasons and cycles of time.

During the summer months, beginning after Father’s Day and running through Labor Day weekend, Sunday worship has been held in in our church Zoom room, beginning at 10:00am. These services are lay-led and are briefer than services throughout the regular church year. Fellowship Hour still follows immediately after the service in Zoom. To honor our history and a need for in-person connection, we have also held Fellowship hour later in the afternoon, outdoors in our courtyard, with an option to move inside if the weather is bad.
