Building on its rich musical tradition, including the annual Community Messiah Sing, UU Wellesley Hills launched a concert series in Fall 2023. The programs bring diverse musicians into our space, outside of the structure of Sunday morning services. We welcome UU Wellesley members, friends, and the wider community to enjoy music of many genres, featuring both local and traveling performers. Plans are taking shape for the 2024-2025 season, with three or four events in the works.
City Strings United provides free cello, bass, piano, and violin lessons and unique performance opportunities to four-year-old through eighteen-year-old students, primarily from urban Boston. But we teach our students much more than musical skills. Our focus is on discipline, teamwork, respect, listening, and accountability-all attributes that we nurture to develop the whole child.
On Sunday, Nov. 9, 3:30-5:00 PM, City Strings United will perform a free concert in the Sanctuary, continuing their 2025 Youth Concert Season: Rising Harmonies, Elevating Youth. An engaging and interactive program will feature music from a wide range of genres: classical, popular, film, and tunes from around the world. This performance by urban Boston youth, ages 6-18, is the first in the 2025-2026 UU Wellesley Hills Concert Series.
